MoDOT Suspending Roadwork for Memorial Day Weekend
05/22/2014

(KTNC) -  The Missouri Department of Transportation is suspending most highway construction and maintenance work in the state this weekend. Officials say that will accommodate the expected increase in traffic due to the Memorial Day holiday.
Work will stop at noon Friday and will resume again after the morning rush on Tuesday. A few lane and bridge closures will remain in place.
Although most highway work is stopping for the weekend, MoDOT reminds drivers to pay attention, buckle up, obey speed limits, and don’t drink and drive.
Six people were killed and 63 were seriously injured in Missouri traffic crashes over the Memorial Day weekend last year. Ten percent of those killed or seriously injured involved an impaired driver.
