05/29/2014

(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners opened sealed bids for the restoration of the Richardson County Courthouse lampposts at the entryways when they met Tuesday.  Bids of $22,313 from Masonry Construction of Bellevue and $30,176 from Restoration and Waterproofing Contractors of Topeka were accepted for further review by the architect.

Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Dixon introduced John Moon III from Clinton, Missouri, a candidate for the position of Deputy Emergency Management Director.  Commissioners did approve the hiring of a seasonal employee in the Cooperative Extension Service Office after proper advertisement of the position has been done.

Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert presented an update on the Preston Road project and the completion of the project.  A walk-thru with the Nebraska Department of Roads officials, the project engineers and contractors is expected to take place in the next week to finalize the project.

Huppert also reported that disciplinary action was given to an employee involved in a wreck earlier this month.

Requests from the Falls City Area Jaycees for special designated liquor licenses during four events this summer at the Jaycees arena south of Falls City were given favorable comment.

Robert Taft presented documentation needed for an agreement to be approved for the use of county road right-of-way for the placement of a pipeline for the disposal of waste, saltwater produced by an oil well to be disposed of in an established saltwater disposal well.  The agreement will be up for final approval next week.

Commissioners also noted they have received notice of a hearing by the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in Sidney, Nebraska on June 24th on an application filed by Ivansons Oil Production, requesting authorization to drill Class II-D Injection Wells in Richardson County.
