Reward Offered in Vandalism of Trail Signs
05/29/2014

(KNZA)-- A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the vandalism of several of the recently installed signs marking the historic Oregon-California Trail through Doniphan County.

Sheriff Chad Clary and Doniphan County Historical Society President Pete Duncan met with the County Commission Tuesday to discuss the recent vandalism.

Duncan asked for the board’s consideration in offering a reward and for the Road and Bridge Department’s help in repairing the damaged signs.  The Commission agreed to have the department assist.

The Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.

Officials say some signs were knocked over by a vehicle and others served as a target for gunshots.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact the Doniphan County Sheriff’s office in Troy.
