Mo-Kan Recieves Grant to Cleanup Contaminated Sites
06/02/2014

(KNZA)--The St. Joseph-based Mo-Kan Regional Council has been selected to receive a one-million dollar grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to clean up potentially contaminated sites.

About $570,000 will go toward cleaning up hazardous waste and more than $425,000 to clean up gas contamination.  The funds will be used to capitalize a revolving loan fund from which Mo-Kan will provide loans and sub-grants to support cleanup activities.

Mo-Kan was among six cities, or non-profit groups, awarded funding in EPA Region 7.

Mo-Kan serves 15 counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.
