(KNZA)--A new superintendent of schools has been hired for Prairie Hills USD 113.
Following an executive session during a special meeting Friday evening, the board approved a two-year contract with Todd Evans, effective July 1st.
Evans has served as Sabetha High School Principal for 15 years and was the lone candidate interviewed for the position.
The board accepted the resignation of Evans as principal, effective June 30th.
Evans will replace Dr. Bill Orth who resigned as superintendent effective May 1st.
Assistant Superintendent Volora Hanzlicek has been serving as interim superintendent since that time.
In other action, the board ratified a negotiated agreement with the Prairie Hills Education Association and USD 113 for 2014-2015.
And the board voted to add an additional elementary teacher at the Axtell school for next school year. Principal Lucas Dalinghaus requested that an additional teacher be hired due to a projected increased enrollment in the 1st and 2nd grade classroom.
