Pyle Fails To File For U.S. Senate Run
06/02/2014

State Sen. Dennis Pyle

(KNZA)--State Senator Dennis Pyle decides not to enter the U.S. Senate race.

The rural Hiawatha Republican did not file by Monday's noon deadline to challenge incumbent Republican Senator Pat Roberts.

Pyle, for more than a week, sought input from voters on whether or not he should seek the seat, already being sought by fellow Republican, and Tea Party supported, Dr. Milton Wolf of Leawood.

Pyle had asked Wolf to join him in holding a poll of voters to see which of the two should challenge Roberts. Wolf refused.

We have reached out to Pyle by email seeking comment on why he decided not to enter the race, but have not yet received a response.

Two other Republicans join Wolf in seeking the seat, with Russell resident Alvin Zahnter  and D.J. Smith, of Osawatomie, to face off in the August 5th primary.

Two Democrats, Shawnee County Attorney Chad Taylor and Lawrence lawyer Patrick Wiesner, are also seeking their party's primary approval to challenge Roberts.
