06/04/2014

(KLZA) -- The Falls City, City Council approved the appointment of Jeremy Goldsberry as an officer with the Falls City Police Department when they met Monday evening.  With the hiring the Police Department now has eight full-time officer including the Chief and Assistant Chief and is allowed one part-time officer position.

Falls City Council members took no action concerning an alley located between McLean and Fulton Streets between 4th and 7th Streets when they met Monday evening.  The dedicated alley includes a city easement for utilities but has never been graded or rocked.  A resident that lives in the midsection of the area was inquiring how to get their boat out of their backyard because the alley is blocked at both ends.  The Council suggested the neighbors work out a solution.

Council members approved two requests to build metal buildings.  One for a 30 x 32 foot garage and shop for Charles and Carol Bentley at 1923 Clifton Street, the other for Ben Howard at 620 Harlan for a 50 x 100 building to be used as a shop.

The Council voted to accept a donation of the grass lots at 111 West 17th street from SNC.  Various requests for the Sauces and Cycles events in Falls City on July 4th and 5th were approved.

A three-year contract to have Julie Bauman CPA of Falls City do the City audit was approved.  The price will be $12,250 for 2014, $12,500 for 2015 and $12,750 for 2016.

An executive session was held at the conclusion of the regular meeting for discussion of personnel, litigation and real estate negotiations.
