(KAIR)--The annual event honoring the memory of those who have lost their life to cancer and the ones who continue the fight against the disease will take place in Atchison this Friday.
Atchison's Relay For Life will kick off Friday evening at 6:00 at the Atchison High School track, with an opening ceremony that is designed to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer as well as to inspire everyone in attendance that the fight is being won.
Following the ceremony, the walk will start with cancer survivors taking the first lap, with onlookers lining the track to cheer them on. They will be joined on the second lap by those who have ever cared for someone with cancer. They will have the opportunity to walk with the person they have cared for if possible during this time.
The event will wrap up with a closing ceremony and awards presentation at a time yet to be determined.
So far, eight teams and eighty-four participants have raised just under $13,000 to support the fight against cancer.
