Atchison Community Group To Honor Two Local Students
06/05/2014

(KAIR)--The Atchison not-for-profit group Citizens For Community Action will hold it's 48th Annual Scholarship Awards Banquet Saturday, and two local students will benefit from the money raised from the event.

Spokeswoman for the group, Jo Ann Murray says the two students were selected by a committee who chose them based on criteria including grade point average, community service and general need. She says the amount for each scholarship has not been determined yet, as it is dependent on how much money is raised through the banquet.

Mrs. Elizabeth Anthony, a teacher at Atchison Middle School, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the event. Anthony has recently been named the Atchison Rotary Teacher of the Year, and has received several nominations to “Who's Who Among American Educators”.

The Citizens For Community Action Scholarship Awards Banquet will take place Saturday evening starting at 6:00 at the Atchison Heritage Center in the Mercantile Ballroom. Tickets are $25 per person.
