Muscotah Set To Celebrate Saturday

(KNZA)--The City of Muscotah is planning a full day of festive fun when the annual Festival of Roses is held Saturday. 

Beginning at 8:00 Saturday morning, the event will include a car, tractor and motorcycle show, Rose Tours on hay rack rides or horse drawn wagons, kids games, a handgun and rifle competition, a tractor parade and entertainment. 

Also returning for another year is the Paws in the the Park dog contest and parade. 

Again heading up that activity is volunteer Wanda Smalls, who says a full lineup of categories for the Top Dog awards will be featured. They include Fluffiest dog, Best biscuit catcher, Best old dog, Best 3 Legged athletic dog, Best costumed owner and dog, Best youth (age 6-17) in costume, Best youth (5 and under) in costume, Best nursing home visitor, Best decorated non-motorized float (bicycle, wagon, or stroller), Best friend dog, Best farm dog, Best group (animal rescue group, youth club, or church group, etc.) with 3 or more dogs. 

Registration for Paws in the Park begins at 8:30 Saturday morning followed by judging at 9:00. Dogs must be vaccinated and well behaved and kept on a short, non-retractable leash. 

Escorts are deemed “Official Pooper Scoopers” and bags for clean-up will be available on site. 

Minors must be accompanied by an adult. 

Other Festival of Roses events and times are as follows: 8:00-2:00 Car, Tractor, & Motorcycle Show, 9:00-4:00 Food & Refreshments, Homemade root beer, 10:00-3:00 Rose Tours on Hay Rack Rides or Horse drawn wagons, 10:00-4:00 Quilt Show, 1:00-3:00 Kids Games, 10:00-12:00 & 1:00-3:00 Bingo, 10:00-3:00 Handgun and Rifle Competition for youth division and adults, 10:00 Ping Pong Scramble for Kids (free prize money), 11:00 Garden Tractor Pull (Weigh in at 10:00 and Pull at 11:00), 11:30 Tractor Parade, 12:00-3:00 Free Entertainment, 4:00 Awards Ceremony.
