Arraignment Set for Former SE Neb. Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault
06/06/2014

(KTNC)--  Arraignment is scheduled later this month for a former southeast Nebraska  teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

The Pawnee Republican reports that 24-year-old Carrie Miller waived a preliminary hearing during an appearance in Johnson County Court Wednesday. The case was transferred to Johnson County District Court, where Miller will be arraigned on June 30.

Miller, a former teacher at Johnson County Central, is charged with first-degree sexual assault. Authorities say she carried on a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.

The boy, who is now 16, told investigators the relationship lasted for about a year, with contact coming mostly in Miller’s vehicle at an abandoned farmstead in Nemaha County, Nebraska.

Miller faces up to 50 years in prison if she is convicted.
