Flash Floods Wash Out Local Bridge Project
06/10/2014

(KMZA)--Recent heavy rains led to the destruction of work already completed on a Nemaha County bridge replacement project.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, over 4 inches of rain fell along K-63 Highway Saturday, leading to flash flooding which washed away the completed falsework on the bridge project over Wildcat Creek.

The project contractor now estimates a one month delay, saying it will take that long to redo what the weather undid.

The bridge replacement, which began in March, was originally expected to be complete by early September.

It's located 2 miles north of U.S. Highway 36.
