(KAIR)--The Atchison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a case of cattle theft that took place sometime Monday evening.
According to Sheriff Jack Laurie, deputies were called to a pasture located at 10544 McPherson Road just before 8:00. Upon investigation, it was discovered that part of the fence had been cut in an area of the pasture that officials think someone loaded cattle into a trailer and left the area.
Laurie says seven cattle in total are missing, and the victim says there are eight more that went missing last month that he did not report because he thought they had just wandered off.
Officials do not yet have any leads on who may be involved in the case, but the search for leads continues.
