Atchison County native Jeff Schuele, shown here in this MSC News file photo, has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Live Well, Live Atchison.
(KAIR)--Officials in Atchison County are taking the first step in the process that will eventually lead to the preparation of a budget for 2015.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says that Commissioners have starting conducting hearings in their work sessions in order to gather information needed to put the budget together. Each county department will give a presentation to Commissioners regarding their budget requests for the coming year. Four departments, solid waste, noxious weeds, road and bridge, and register of deeds have already made their presentations.
Schuele adds that this is only the start of the process. More departments are scheduled next week and other departments, as well as outside agencies will be making their requests in the next few weeks.
Schuele says that as they start fine tuning the budget, Commissioners may trim some items. Big requests for the budget can also be handled on a case by case basis.
