(KLZA)-- It has been nearly a year since the new City Hall location was opened in Falls City. It is about time to decide what do to with the former City Hall building at 18th and Towle Street.
City Administrator Gary Jorn put the topic on the City Council agenda this week for discussion, hoping to receive some input from County members on what to do with the building originally built as a National Guard Armory.
Jorn says he is in favor of selling the facility that currently still houses the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department Equipment. He said options include retaining the building, leasing it or selling it. He noted if sold, the City would need to lease back the part currently housing the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department until a new home can be constructed for the fire equipment.
Jorn told the Council he has received inquiries from people interested in both leasing the building and purchasing the building. He explained that currently the building is vacant other than being used to store some files. No decisions were made this week. It did appear to be the consensus of the Council to get the building appraised.
