Mound City School Board Approves Preliminary Budget
06/25/2014

(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Education amended the 2013-14 budget when they met Monday to reflect equal revenues and expenditures.  Superintendent Ken Eaton said the school district actually finished the year in the black.

The next order of business was to approve a preliminary budget for the 2014-15 school year, which begins July 1. The district will not know the budget revenue side numbers until the state allotment is set. Once the 2013-14 budget is finalized, it is set as the preliminary budget for the next year so bills can be paid in July.

In other business Roger Parshall a State Legislative candidate introduced himself to the Board.  He is one of four Republicans seeking to replace Mike Thompson who could not seek re-election due to term limits.

During the Administrator reports it was revealed the High School Principal Korey Miles was recently selected winner of the “Emerging New Principal” Award by the Northwest District of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Mr. Miles just completed his second year as Principal at Mound City. Eaton called it a prestigious award and praised Miles’ hard work and communication skills with various groups.

The Mound City Board also approved a proposal to restart the FFA Trap Team.  FFA Instructor Connor Dignan will be getting his shooting instructor certification for the program.
