(KAIR)--An Atchison man who allegedly removed a debit card from a purse in his home is facing multiple charges related to the case.
According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, 43-year-old Wesley Mercer allegedly took the card from the purse of a Kansas City woman who was attending a gathering at his residence, located in the 1100 block of Commercial Street sometime Sunday afternoon.
Mercer then allegedly used the card at two local businesses Monday, charged a total of approximately $85 on the card.
The theft was reported to police Tuesday morning, and Mercer was arrested shortly after 2:00 after a short investigation. He is facing charges of criminal use of a financial card, computer crime, and theft.
He remains in the Atchison County Jail.
