(KAIR)--An Atchison man facing several charges related to the theft of a debit card, has agreed to a plea in the case.
43-year-old Wesley Mercer appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges of theft and criminal use of a financial card. In exchange for the plea, a computer crime charge was dropped.
Sentencing has been set for July 28th.
Mercer was arrested last week after a Kansas City woman reported that her debit card had been removed from her purse while attending a gathering at Mercer's home two days prior. Mercer then used the card at two local businesses, charging a total of approximately $85.
