(KAIR)--An Atchison teen will spend five and a half years in an adult prison for a pair of sex offenses.
16-year-old Zaheer Cluke was sentenced this week in Atchison County District Court on charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and lewd and lascivious conduct.
Cluke was arrested in early August last year after he attacked a 13-year-old female and touched her inappropriately in an Atchison park. He was fifteen years old at the time the crime took place.
According to Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckleman, charges against Cluke were first filed in juvenile court on September 26th, but were transferred to adult court on October 8th after he was certified to stand trial as an adult. He plead guilty to the charge on December 23rd.
Judge Martin Asher also sentenced Cluke to six months in prison for the lewd and lascivious charge, which stems from an incident in December in which he exposed himself to a female jail staff member. Both sentences will run concurrently.
Once released, Cluke will be under supervised probation, and have to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
