Brown Co Wraps up Hearings on 2015 budget requests
07/15/2014

(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission on Monday wrapped up hearings on 2015 budget requests.

15 budget requests were heard--six for increases, 3 for the same amount and 4 for a decrease in funding.

Seeking the largest funding increases were the Brown County Historical Society and County Appraiser.  The Historical Society is requesting a $21,500 increase and Appraiser Paula Jones, a $19,000 increase.  The Historical Society says they need additional funding to help cover the director’s salary. Jones says she would like to make a part-time position, full-time.

The largest budget request is for the county road and bridge department in the amount of two million, five hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars.

The commission will now begin the process of preparing a proposed 2015 budget for publication.  Approval of the 2015 budget would then follow a public hearing.  County Clerk Debbie Parker says a budget must be approved by August 25th.
