USD 113 Patrons to Vote on Capital Outlay Resolution
07/15/2014

(KNZA)--Voters in Prairie Hills USD 113 will decide during the November  general election the fate of a capital outlay resolution.

Superintendent Todd Evans said the board voted unanimously Monday evening to place the question on the November 4th ballot after a protest petition was certified last week.

Board members felt the right thing to do was to take it to a vote and let the patrons decide.

The resolution approved by the board in May would authorize the school board to make a continuous and permanent annual tax levy in an amount not to exceed 8 mills on property in the district.  In addition, the resolution would allow the board to take advantage of provisions included in the new school finance bill giving the board greater flexibility regarding how capital outlay funds can be used.

The petition was organized by district patrons Jim Scoby and Dr. Allan Ross.  Scoby and Ross said the purpose of the protest petition is to give school district patrons the opportunity to vote on the tax issue.
