(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Board of Education has taken another step forward in improving the district’s facilities.
The board voted this week to hire the Lenexa-based consulting firm, P1 Group, to serve as At-Risk Management coordinators over the improvement projects. The firm will charge a base price of $32,000 with additional costs a percentage of projects completed.
The P1 Group has evaluated all three district schools and recommended an estimated $5.4 to $6.5 million in facility upgrades. The bulk of the improvements are recommended at the elementary and high schools—including upgrades to the HVAC systems and plumbing at both schools.
The board is considering a bond issue to finance the improvements.
