(KAIR)--A Nebraska man was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly using a counterfeit $20 bill at the Amelia Earhart festival.
According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, a vendor working in a booth located in the 100 block of Commercial Street, approached a police officer who was part of a security detail for the festival. The vendor provided the officer with what he thought was a counterfeit $20 bill. Upon inspection, the officer did determine that it was counterfeit.
After a short investigation, police located 28-year-old Henry Wendtlandt of Falls City, Nebraska, who was still in the area and had allegedly passed the bill to the vendor.
Wilson says that officers discovered an additional twelve counterfeit $20 in Wendtlandt's possession.
Wendtlandt is facing charges of theft and making false information. He was transported to the Atchison County Jail, but was released later that evening on a $1,500 bond.
