(KNZA)--The city of Hiawatha will join thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st Annual National Night Out against crime event on Tuesday evening.
The Hiawatha Police Department will again sponsor National Night Out, a sponsorship they have maintained for 20 years.
Agencies will set up displays in the Schuneman Addition at the Fisher Center on East Iowa Street from 6 to 8 in the evening. Those include the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Squad 48, Town and Country Ambulance, Union Pacific Railroad, and Hiawatha Fire Department. Hot dogs, soda and chips will be provided free of charge. From 8 to 10, a movie and pool party will be held at the Hiawatha Aquatic Park, also at no charge.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
