Deputy Josh Nincehelser

(KLZA)-- Former Richardson County Deputy Sheriff Joshua Nincehelser appeared in Richardson County Court Monday, facing one felony charge and three misdemeanor counts.

Nincehelser, from Dawson, was charged following a Nebraska State Patrol investigation a few days after Nincehelser reported he was shot by an unknown person June 9th when he stopped his patrol pickup to see if the motorist needed assistance.

On a felony charge of criminal mischief Nincehelser waived his right to a preliminary hearing in County Court and was bound over to District Court for arraignment on August 19th.  Misdemeanor charges of false reporting, official misconduct and obstructing government operations were dismissed without prejudice on a motion by special prosecutor Kale Burdick.  The charges may be re-filed in District Court.

Nincehelser is represented by attorney Bruce Dalluge.

The 25 year old Nincehelser is alleged to have shot himself in the arm; to have shot holes into is patrol vehicle and is accused of lying to investigators, saying that he was shot by a man in a car stopped on a rural Richardson County road.
