(KAIR)--The city of Atchison has been named one of the safest communities in the state of Kansas by national real estate company Movoto.
Movoto compiled data from the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report for each community in the state with a population over 10,000. Each of the listed crimes in the report was divided into four categories: murders, violent crimes, property crimes, and total crimes.
Movoto's report shows that the city had only two rapes, six robberies, and forty-one assaults per 100,000 people in 2012, which made it the tenth least violent overall. Atchison also had the seventh lowest property crime, with only 443 crimes of that sort being reported in 2012.
Atchison tied with Derby for seventh place on the list.
