(KMZA)--A new detour route is planned on a bridge replacement project on K-99 Highway in Marshall County over Snipe Creek.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says traffic over the bridge will be shifted onto a new detour route utilizing U.S. 77 instead of the original detour route on K-87, beginning sometime Friday.
KDOT says due to the increased heavy truck and vehicle traffic on K-87, the roadway pavement is beginning to show signs of serious deterioration. Crews will install new traffic control, and once in place traffic will be shifted onto the new detour route.
The new marked detour route is as follows: Northbound K-99 traffic will detour viand K-9 to northbound U.S. 77 to westbound U.S. 36 back to K-99. Southbound K-99 traffic will detour via westbound U.S. 36 to southbound U.S. 77 to eastbound K-9 back to K-99.
The overall bridge replacement project is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014, weather permitting.
