(KTNC)--Construction continues on the new addition to the Johnson-Brock School, as kids prepare to head back to class next week. The Fire Marshal walked through the building Monday and concrete for sidewalks and a new parking lot was poured earlier this week.
Superintendent Jeff Koehler says they won’t have access to the new construction area at the start of the school year, but will be able to use the rest of the building, as that area will be sealed off.
Koehler says the school building probably isn’t as clean as they would like heading into the start of a new school year, due to construction activity, but the dust should be less of an issue after this week, as they'll be able to clean the hallways and have things ready when kids come back for the first day of class.
Koehler says fans should be able to use the new commons area when Johnson-Brock hosts its first volleyball match on September 22, and he says they should like what they see. The new commons area should open things up and ease access to the gymnasium.
Koehler says parking will be available at the old parking area on the north side of the school, as construction equipment will be moved to the newly-poured parking area.
Johnson-Brock starts school on Tuesday, with a half day of classes scheduled.
