(KLZA)--The jury trial for a former Nebraska teacher, accused of sexually assaulting a minor, has been postponed.
The trial for 24-year old Carrie Miller, of Tecumseh, had been scheduled for Wednesday but a defense motion for a continuance was granted. The new trial date is October 22nd. A pre-trial motion, is also set to be heard in the case on September 22nd.
Charged with five counts of sexual assault of a minor, the former Johnson County Central teacher is accused of having sexual contact with a male student 50 to 60 times from October 2012 through October 2013 at an abandoned farmstead in Nemaha County.
Miller is also facing a September 10th jury trial in Johnson County, Nebraska on one count of sexual assault of a minor. The charge involves the same former student, who was 15 at the time. Miller was teaching Spanish at Johnson County Central High School when the alleged sexual relationship is believed to have occurred.
If convicted Miller faces up to 50 years in prison.
