(KTNC)--People who ride horses in the Richardson County Fair Parades this year will have to make sure their animals are properly "bagged."
The Humboldt City Council approved the requirement that horses be equipped with bags to collect any droppings on the recommendation of Maintenance Coordinator Les Drake, who requested the action in order to reduce the mess left by the animals on city streets during the parades.
That was one of two fair-related items the city council approved Tuesday night. The council also formally gave permission to the Chamber of Commerce to use the city streets for the Fair, which begins with the coronation program on September 10 and continues through September 13 in Humboldt.
In other action Tuesday, the Humboldt Council approved revised guidelines for the Housing Rehab Program. The revised guidelines include a provision that the maximum post-rehab value of homes in the program shall not exceed 95-percent of the median home purchase price in the area. The guidelines also stipulate that any unused program money be returned to the Department of Economic Development.
The council also approved building permits for the HTRS School District and Keith Carlin; and the council approved a one-day liquor license for Steve Svoboda, for the Saturday night of the Richardson County Fair.
