Brown County Courthouse
( KNZA)--A Brown County employee has been reinstated a week after being terminated.
Following an executive session on Monday, the County Commission voted unanimously to reinstate Jim Schuetz as a part-time senior citizens taxi driver for southern Brown County.
The Commission had voted last week to terminate Schuetz. No reason was given for the action at the time .
Donna Bottom, representing a large group of Horton residents present at Monday's meeting, read a letter urging Commissioners to re-instate Schuetz. She also presented a petition containing more than 300 signatures in support of his re-hiring.
Bottom said she felt the Commission had done a great injustice and Schuetz had been fired without just cause. He has served as a taxi driver for 15 years.
