(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has approved the opening of a portion of a road in Adams Township.
Following a hearing Monday drawing no public comment, the Commission approved a resolution to open a 1 ½ mile portion of N Road. The commission also approved having the road surveyed to determine the right-of-way.
12 people were in attendance at the hearing—including township board members and adjacent landowners.
In other business, Sheriff Rich Vernon presented Commissioners with three bids received for new generators for the county Law Enforcement Center and new jail addition.
Following discussion, the Commission approved the low bid from Kansas City-based Cummins Central Power for the purchase of two generators at a total cost of $41,555.
And County Senior Services Director Diane Younghans informed commissioners that the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha wants to terminate it’s contract with the county to provide meals for seniors at the Sabetha Nutrition Center.
Younghans says she plans to now have the meals prepared at the Seneca Nutrition Center and transported to Sabetha. The Sabetha Center serves 35 to 40 people on a weekday basis.
Due to the change, Younghans requested to move Seneca Nutrition Center employee Laurie Carlson’s position from part-time to full-time. The Commission approved the change, effective September 21st.
