(KAIR)--An Atchison home has suffered significant damage after an early Wednesday morning fire.
Atchison Fire Chief Mike McDermed says crews were called to the home, located in the 800 block of Atchison Street shortly before 7:30. Flames were observed mainly in the rear of the home, though the entire structure was covered in smoke.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the main body of the fire, but several smaller fires took more time to bring under control.
McDermed says that no one was in the home at the time of the fire, and no injures have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
