09/26/2014

(KAIR)--An Atchison man wanted on several outstanding warrants for failure to appear and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was taken into custody Thursday after a short foot chase.

According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, officers were sent to the 600 block of Park Street just after 8:00 after receiving a report that 31-year-old Justin Tootle was in the area. When police attempted to confront him, Tootle took off running. A foot chase followed, and Tootle was apprehended a short time later in the 500 block of U.S. 59 Highway.

During the arrest, officers discovered what appeared to be illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Tootle was taken into custody on charges including possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing the legal process, in addition to the warrants.
