Taken into custody on charges including possession of stolen property and interference with law enforcement is Zachariah Brown, identified as the suspect who sparked the weekend manhunt.

It happened after the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office received a report regarding a suspicious man, and what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle, near 1st and N Road in the southern portion of the county.

Deputies arrived at the scene and the man took off on foot, fleeing into a nearby cornfield.

A search was launched assisted by the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. However, despite the use of a helicopter and K-9 officers, the suspect was able to escape.
