(KNZA)--The search is on for a suspect believed to have committed an unspecified sex related crime in Hoyt on Saturday.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says the man allegedly engaged in what he calls “a lewd and lascivious incident” involving minor children.
The crime was reported around 12 noon.
The public's help is being sought in locating the suspect, identified as a while male with a husky or chubby build, short brown or reddish hair and short reddish facial hair.
Morse says he's believed to have been the driver of 4-door gray pick-up truck, possibly a 2002 or 2003 Ford F-150.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 785-364-2251.
Morse is reminding parents to teach their children how to avoid becoming a victim. Children should never approach strangers sitting in a vehicle. They should be told never to get into a vehicle with a stranger. If someone tries to force them in a car, they should run and scream. Children should be taught to tell a trusted adult if anyone touches them or exposes themselves to them even if they are threatened by the person.
