Security Cameras Considered for Courthouse

Brown County Courthouse

(KNZA)-- Brown County Commissioners are looking at enhancing security at the county courthouse.

County Commissioner Steve Roberts informed Commissioners Monday that he and County Attorney Kevin Hill met with representatives of Rainbow Communications last week to discuss the installation of security cameras at the courthouse.

Roberts said the company will conduct an evaluation of the courthouse and submit a proposal.

Roberts says the idea arose in part following recent criminal damage  at the courthouse.   A window was broken out of the court services office on the 1st floor of the courthouse after an object was thrown through the window.

In other business, County Election Officer Debbie Parker informed commissioners of a software problem with the mobile voting equipment.   Parker says the problem is being looked at by the support company.  She said mobile voting may not take place for the upcoming general election due to the problem.

Advance voting for the November 4th general election is scheduled to start in the county clerk's office on October 20th.
