Pawnee City Condemns Nuisance Property
10/15/2014

City Hall - Pawnee City

(KTNC)--The Pawnee City Council has taken action against a property that has been deemed a nuisance.

Jeff Gaston was at Monday's city council meeting to appeal a nuisance letter that had been issued against his property at 1138 G Street.

City Clerk Tammy Stephens says the hearing was similar to a court hearing. City Attorney Joe Stehlik presented witnesses and exhibits, and Gaston was able to question witnesses. Stephens says the council voted to act on the property after several witnesses described the problems with the property.

The council condemned the property and gave Gaston 30 days to tear down the house. If Gaston doesn't tear down the house by then, the city would tear the house down.

On another property-related note, the Pawnee City Council approved a bid on a Housing Rehab project, as recommended by the Housing Advisory Committee. The council approved the bid of $24,995 from Hinrichsen Construction for project number 10.

The council also approved a payment of $16,435 to McNealy Construction for another Housing Rehab project.
