Atchison To Hold Community Meeting
10/16/2014

(KAIR)--Atchison city officials are inviting residents to participate in a public meeting to discuss a proposal to open South Sixth Street, from Park Street to V Street to two way traffic.

According to a release from the city, city staff is considering the change to accommodate planned changes to the city's solid waste and recycling collection programs, set to start in January. The new collection vehicles will operate from the right side only, so two way traffic is preferred on all streets. Other benefits to a two way street include improved mobility for motorists, slower travel speeds, and improved access for pedestrians.

The meeting is set for Monday October 27th at 5:30 in the upstairs city commission room at Atchison City Hall, located at 515 Kansas Avenue.
