(KMZA)--The Seneca City Council has approved a change to the city’s zoning regulations regarding garages.
City Administrator Matt Rehder says the amendment approved by the council Wednesday evening allows residents who have multiple residential lots to put a garage as a primary structure on a lot as long as the lots share a property line.
The amendment was approved on a 3-2 vote, with council members Jim Mitchell and Galen Niehues voting no. Council member Alice Lackey was not present at the meeting.
The city Planning Commission had recommended the change.
In other business, Rehder told the council the city’s emergency medical services provider, Techs Inc. has requested that they be allowed to alter the Emergency Services Building to create two sleeping rooms for staff at an estimated cost of about $10,000. That comes after the Nemaha County Commission recently approved moving forward with having one fully staffed ambulance unit, possibly effective as early as January 1st, 2015.
The Council gave their approval to the project and to allow Rehder to meet with the county commission. They directed Rehder to let the county know the city will not pay for the project.
