(KNZA)--Hiawatha firefighters were kept busy Sunday.
Shortly after 7:30 Sunday morning, the department was called to a fire at a facility owned by Fairview Mills at 1303 Iowa Street in Hiawatha.
According to a new release from Hiawatha Fire Department Public Relations Officer Jordanne Shockley, firefighters knocked down the blaze of burning feed in the southeast corner of the building.
The fire department was on scene about 4 1/2 hours.
Shortly before 8 Sunday night, the department was called to a house fire at 120 North 12th Street. Upon arrival, flames were visible from a second story window.
The home is owned by Jim and Gipsy Boone. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire department was on scene nearly 2 ½ hours.
Fire Chief Gary Shear says both fires remain under investigation. No injuries were reported in either fire. Damage estimates weren't available.
Assisting at both fires were the Robinson Fire Department, Hiawatha Police Department, Brown County Squad 48 and Town and Country EMS. Also assisting were the Morrill and Fairview Fire Departments.
