(KMZA)--Carrying the counties that make up the 62nd District of Kansas, Republican incumbent Randy Garber won re-election for his third term in the House of Representatives Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger Steve Lukert.
Garber gained his victory with 56% of the vote.
The two Sabetha residents put up a hard fought public battle for the seat once held by Lukert.
The 62nd District includes Brown and Nemaha Counties and portions of Atchison and Jackson.
Holton Republican Becky Hutchins will return to the Kansas House of Representatives, defeating Democratic challenger Vivien Olsen for the 61st District seat.
Hutchins won election with 68% of the vote.
The seat is currently held by Republican Richard Carlson who did not seek re-election.
