(KNZA)--A kickoff party and membership drive is planned for a newly launched Hiawatha based organization.
Double the Love Divide the Hate is focused on promoting equality, raising awareness, and celebrating diversity by supporting LGBT youth, allies and families.
Formation of the organization was spearheaded by Hiawatha resident Stacy Babb, who says the official launch is set to happen Sunday morning from 9 to 11:00 at Hiawatha's Daily Perk. “The idea behind this is we want to provide a scholarship for LGBT youth and allies yearly, a senior in high school that's deserving of a scholarship and needs one,” Babb tells MSC News. “Then also we want to facilitate positive connections in the community so that kids can go to the doctor or go to somebody that can help them and be sensitive to their needs. Just come on down. We're just excited to have people in our group and we want to have fundraisers and meetings and things like that.”
Those attending are asked to donate Christmas wrapping paper which will be used for an upcoming fundraising event.
