County Commissioners, meeting as a canvassing board Monday, canvassed the ballots from the election.
According to the Atchison County Clerk's Office, there were 122 provisional ballots cast. A provisional ballot is used to record a vote when there are questions about a given voter's eligibility.
The Board approved the counting of 70 provisional ballots.
The final vote tally saw incumbent First District County Commissioner Jeff Schuele defeating challenger Charlie Perdue by a vote of 556-531.
A $9.8 million bond issue for USD 377 that would have funded various improvements in the district was officially defeated 944-812, and voters officially approved a new fire building in Rural Fire District #2 by a vote of 270-187.
