Hiawatha Drilling for Water
12/03/2014

(KNZA)--The city of Hiawatha is continuing it's search for additional water wells.
City Administator Mike Nichols says additional wells are needed for a planned water treatment plant.
Nichols told City Commissioners Monday evening that the city has received permission to test drill on the property adjacent to the north well field.  He said the city is also talking to another property owner in the area.
The city has entered into a consent agreement with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to address the ongoing problem of high nitrite levels in its water supply.
