(KMZA)--A pedestrian was struck and killed as she walked on a Pottawatomie County highway early Sunday.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat identified the victim as 48-year-old Angela Ressler, of rural Manhattan.
Riat said dispatchers received a call shortly after 12:30 Sunday morning regarding a pedestrian walking on US-24 highway near Dempsey Road.
About a minute after the initial call, dispatchers received another call, this time reporting that the pedestrian had been struck by another vehicle.
A sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene shortly after and found the pedestrian, who was determined to be dead.
Riat said it was believed the pedestrian had been walking west in the eastbound lane of US-24 highway when she was struck by an eastbound Ford pickup truck.
At this time, Riat said no citations have been issued to the driver of the pickup.
The accident remains under investigation.
