(KNZA)--Hiawatha-based KANZA Mental Health and Guidance Center has received ownership of two of its buildings from Brown County.
KANZA Mental Health CEO David Elsbury and Virginia Freese, Director of Business Operations for KANZA, attended the December 22nd Brown County Commission meeting to witness the signing of legal documents transferring ownership of its buildings at 909 South 2nd Street in Hiawatha and 2291 Linden Road to the mental health center.
KANZA constructed the Main Office Building on South 2nd Street in 1989 and took residence in 1990. KANZA remodeled and began services at the facility on Linden Road in 2004. Both of the projects were financially supported by Brown County. The agency paid off the debt for the Main Office in 2013 and the building on Linden Road in 2014. KANZA now owns four buildings. Besides the two facilities in Hiawatha, KANZA owns buildings in Holton at 713 Idaho Street and in Troy on the town square.
KANZA is a community mental health center licensed by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. It not only serves Brown County but also Doniphan, Nemaha and Jackson Counties. The Center employs over 60 persons and provides a wide range of behavioral health services in its offices and in the community.
Elsbury thanked the Brown County Commissioners for their longstanding support for these buildings and for the services the agency provides.
KANZA also operates out of sites in Sabetha at the Sabetha Community Hospital, at the Pioneer Building in Seneca, and the Moser Building (old Holton Community Hospital building) in Holton at 5th and Kansas Avenue.
