(KAIR)--A key development as Atchison Police search for the person responsible for last Thursday night's strong armed robbery at the city's Dollar General store. “It will be solved. No question about it,” Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson tells MSC News.
He says investigators are another step closer to solving the case, now that a vehicle, spotted in the area of the robbery, has been located. “We worked [the case] throughout Thursday night and through Friday at which time we developed information on a vehicle we were interested in. We issued an alert on Friday, with a surveillance photo of that vehicle, asking for assistance from the public in identifying who the driver or owner of that vehicle is. That paid off, putting that alert out, because on Friday night we received a tip as to the location of that vehicle. We did locate the vehicle [and] it has given us additional leads that we're following up on as we work that case around the clock.”
Details regarding the owner of the car, and specifics of where it was located, are not made public as the investigation moves forward.
Police believe the vehicle to be connected to the robbery of the Dollar General store that happened just before closing time.
The suspect, identified as a black male, wearing dark, heavy clothing and a ski mask, entered the store, showed a gun to two clerks, and demanded money.
He managed to escape after he gained an unspecified amount of cash.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to notify police at 913-367-4323.
