Contract Awarded for Highway 36 Improvement Project
(KMZA)-- Work is expected to begin soon on a drainage improvement project on U.S. 36 Highway in Seneca.
The Seneca City Council Wednesday evening approved a resolution awarding the contract for the project to Leavenworth Excavating and Equipment Company for a cost of $1.3 million, which is about $40,000 to $45,000 less than had been anticipated.
A grant from the Kansas Department of Transporation is paying for most of the construction cost, with the city's match nearly $88,000.
The project will include new curb and gutter and installation of new storm sewers along with replacement in some cases.
The Council also approved a contract with the Salina-based engineering firm Wilson and Company to provide inspection services for the project at a total cost of nearly $174,000.
