(KLZA)-- The Falls City School Board voted unanimously this week to approve the purchase of a 65-passenger route bus from the Blue Bird company as recommended by Transportation Supervisor Rob Baker.
The Blue Bird price is $82,993 with the Thomas Built price tag at $84,884. District 56 was awarded an EPA grant earlier this school year worth $19,800 which will go toward the purchase of the bus making the cost to the district $63,193.
District 56 has 14 school buses and two vans used for transportation.
In other business during the meeting this week approved adoption of Strategic Plans and Goals developed during a January Leadership Team Planning Retreat. The goals include, continuing to focus on raising student achievement; analyzing future initiatives to support and enhance student learning; continuing to recruit and maintain a quality staff to provide a strong foundation for improved student learning; exploring and investing in technology to support student learning; providing resources to support a safe and secure environment for students and staff; continuing to strengthen school / community relationships to provide support for student learning and to actively support and promote a stable source of school funding.
